FAQ

Brand & Production FAQs

What materials do you use?

I use only premium, authentic automotive-grade materials. This includes genuine Italian Alcantara® and top-tier automotive leathers. I do not use cheap synthetic imitations, ensuring your interior upgrades look, feel, and last like an OEM+ or exotic vehicle factory finish.

How long will it take for my order to ship?

Because everything I create is hand-crafted and made-to-order, lead times vary by product type:

  • Shift Boots & Small Items: Typically ship quickly within my standard production window.
  • Console Covers, Dashes, & Complex Trim: These often require me to source original OEM plastic base parts from factory dealers to ensure a perfect fit, which adds approximately 6 to 7 days to my production timeline.
Can you make a custom part for a vehicle not listed on your site?

Unfortunately, I do not take on "one-off" custom projects for unsupported vehicles. Achieving my OEM+ standard requires extensive Research & Development. To develop a new product, I purchase the actual factory trim pieces, build and refine multiple templates, and perform real-world test fitments to guarantee absolute perfection. Because of this rigorous prototyping process, I only develop new parts when there is overwhelming community demand.

Do you repair sagging headliners, torn seats, or offer general upholstery repair?

No, I do not. Overland Designs is my bespoke manufacturing studio, not a general auto upholstery repair shop. I specialize strictly in designing and hand-crafting new, custom-tailored interior components (like shift boots and console covers) for specific enthusiast and performance vehicles. For repairs on existing factory interiors, such as headliner replacements or patching cracked leather seats, I highly recommend searching for a dedicated "Auto Upholstery Shop" in your local area.

Do you offer sponsorships or influencer discounts?

I am incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding my work! However, as a bespoke manufacturing studio focused on handcrafted quality and strict production margins, I do not offer partial or full sponsorships for show cars or influencer collaborations at this time.

Customization & Design

Can I request a custom thread color to match my car's exterior paint?

I offer a carefully curated selection of standard thread colors (such as OEM Red, Blue, Silver, etc.) designed to complement factory interiors perfectly. However, I do not offer custom dye-matching services to match specific exterior paint codes.

Can you embroider my car's logo (Type R, STI, etc.) on my part?

I focus strictly on a clean, OEM+ aesthetic and do not offer custom embroidery or trademarked vehicle logos on my products.

Orders & Cancellations

Can I change my thread color or cancel my order after placing it?

Because my products are made-to-order and raw materials are cut specifically for your build, any changes or cancellations must be made within 24 hours of placing your order. Once production begins, orders cannot be modified or canceled.

Do you accept returns?

Because every single item I produce is highly customized and meticulously made-to-order for your specific vehicle and aesthetic choices, I do not accept standard returns. However, I pride myself on exceptional craftsmanship. If there is an issue with the quality or craftsmanship of your part upon arrival, please contact me immediately so I can make it right.

Why does my new part have an adhesive smell out of the box?

Because your pieces are freshly hand-crafted just for you, they may have a faint scent of industrial upholstery adhesive when you first open the box. This is completely normal for genuine custom-wrapped Alcantara and leather components. The scent will naturally dissipate within a few days of being exposed to the air and installed in your vehicle.

Sourcing & "Send-In" Services

What is a "Send-In" order?

For certain complex interior panels and trim pieces, I give you the option to send me your vehicle's original core part. I will meticulously prep, wrap, and stitch the new material directly onto your factory base, then ship it right back to you.

Do you offer a "Core Exchange" program, or do I have to send my own parts in?

I do not operate a rotating core exchange program. For complex pieces, you must either purchase a brand-new factory OEM core directly through me (when available on the product page) or use my "Send-In" service to mail me your original trim pieces for wrapping.

Where do I ship my "Send-In" factory parts?

Once your order is confirmed, please securely package your clean factory trim pieces and ship them to my studio at:

Overland Designs
345 Belvedere Dr.
Holly Ridge, NC 28445

I highly recommend using a trackable, insured shipping service. Please include your order number clearly inside the box.

Installation, Maintenance & Care

Do you provide installation instructions?

I do not supply step-by-step installation instructions with my products. Removing factory interior trim varies wildly depending on your specific vehicle's make, model, year, and trim level. I highly recommend referring to your vehicle's factory service manual, trusted automotive forums, or YouTube tutorials. If you are not comfortable disassembling your interior, I strongly suggest having your custom pieces installed by a professional auto upholstery or performance shop.

Will the Alcantara fade in the sun?

I use genuine, automotive-grade Alcantara, which is highly UV resistant. However, for parts exposed to direct, intense sunlight (like dashboard trims or gauge hoods), I highly recommend using a windshield sunshade when parked to maximize the longevity and vibrant color of your custom interior.

How do I clean and maintain my Alcantara interior parts?

Alcantara is incredibly durable but thrives on proper maintenance.

  • Regular Cleaning: Dust regularly with a soft brush or vacuum with a clean upholstery attachment.
  • Wiping Down: Use a slightly damp (not soaked) microfiber cloth with warm water. Do not use harsh household detergents or bleach.
  • Deep Cleaning: For stubborn spots, use a dedicated, brand-approved Alcantara cleaner. Avoid rubbing aggressively, as this can rough up the synthetic fibers.

International Shipping & Logistics

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I ship my custom work globally. At checkout, you can select premium, trackable international shipping via DHL Express or UPS Worldwide.

How are international customs and import duties handled?

The total you pay at checkout covers the cost of your custom parts and the raw shipping rate to get the box to your country. Please note: International customers are solely responsible for paying any additional customs duties, import taxes, VAT, or carrier brokerage fees required by their local government upon delivery. I do not collect or pre-pay these fees on your behalf.
